10th October 2001: The Urban Dwellers kick off the season tomorrow (11th October) with a game against Greetings and Gifts. Spirits in the camp and all the players are looking forward to a good first season in the Doncaster Corporate Six-a-side 4th Division.
Urban Dwellers get thumped!
Score: Gifts & Greetings 17 Urban Dwellers 1
Scorer: Hughes (Pen)
Squad: Eyes, Beano, Tofty, Sunny, Ginner, Emlyn, Hughes, Pete

After all the excitement and anticipation of the new season, it was something of a dissapointment to suffer a cricket score defeat. The game got off to a bad score as Beano opened the scoring.....for Greetings & Gifts, a mix up in defence led to Eyes being beaten at his front post by a back pass. Things didn't improve as the 'Dwellers goal came under increasing pressure. Substitions were made in a desperate attempt to turn the game. However the strength, speed and skill of the opposition was just too much, as the goals flew in. For a period either side of half time, the Dwellers managed to stem the tide and Ginner and Beano both had reasonable chances the latter resulting to a penalty. As Hughes stepped up the tension was unbearable, however he calmly slotted the ball home into the left hand corner. From this period onwards the performance went downhill. The Dwellers lost what little shape they had and tired badly, resulting in at least 8 goals in the last 5 minutes.
The final score was obviously dissapointing (understatement of the year), however we now have two weeks off, in which to put in some serious work. We have worked out the problems which were:-
Speed- We just weren't ready for the pace of the game and have got to speed up if we are to win.
Lack of organisation - We didn't play in positions and were punished. The roling substitions were also a big mistake.
Ball control and passing - We didn't get the ball under control quickly enough and when we did get it, we panicked and didn't look for a pass.
Fitness - We weren't fit enough and this is something we will work on.

Positives
-It was our first game and we haven't really played together, we can learn from this
- They look one of the better teams in the league
- We did play quite well for a while and we didn't really get beaten that badly for strenght, something I thought would be a problem.

Can't really be arsed with match reports. Might bother if we ever win. However by looking at the league table you should be able to work out how well were doing. .
Dwellers Win !!!!!!!
Score: Urban Dwellers 7-4 Royston Crappers
Scorers: Emlyn (4), Eyes (2), Ginner (1)
Squad: Dave M, Dave C, Tofty, Beano, Ginner, Eyes, Emlyn

It's official the Dwellers have finally got their first victory of the season, leaving the Royston Crappers routed firmly to the foot of the table. The Dwellers didn't start of in the best of fashions, conceding early on. However this was a blip in an otherwise superb performance. After the initial nerves and the goal, the Dwellers settled down and put in a stunning first half performance. Eyes and Emlyn up front worked well together, leaving Toft and Beano little to do at the back. By half time the score was 4-1 in favour of the Dwellers. In the second half the dominance was not quite as great. However we were cruising and a few substitutions were made. At one point we had four defenders on the pitch and despite the best efforts of Ginner (oggy!) and the defence at the end, the Crappers couldn't get back in the game.
This was a good team performance, but the opposition weren't much cop. If we are to beat other teams we have to keep battling, passing the ball and moving as a unit.
DDDDDDDDDWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEE
EERRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dwellers Win....Again !!!!
Score: Urban Dwellers 7-2 Sprotbrough Celtic
Scorers: Eyes 4, Hughes 2, Ginner 1
Squad: Tofty, Ginner, Eyes, Hughes, Emlyn, Sunny, Pete

The Dwellers put in their best performance of the season in this crucial derby match. Although on paper the team appeared weaker than the previous week, the boys really rose to the occasion and led from the beginning. Eyes scoring from four from his new defensive position was possibly the highlight, but everyone on the team put in good performances. When the passing got going we had some superb moves. We also defended solidly and Tofty looked confident in the net. Despite looking good early on, Sprotbrough crumbled in the second half and we were able to give them a good hammering. In the second half we conceded no goals and scored 3, this just shows our improvement. Unfortanately we now have a three week break. However we are going to arrange some friendlies and we might also enter a tournameant in the Christmas holidays.
